A whole new world is waiting for us across this river.
— Susan G Mathis, Katelyn’s Choice

Created in the USA, likely New York City, during The Gilded Age, this piece features the era’s signature motifs of naturalistic swirls and open work. It is symbolic of a time in history when unprecedented wealth was being created in North America, beyond the old world and its formal structures of the aristocracy and royalty.

Originally created as a brooch, likely commissioned by a wealthy industrialist for his beloved, it is in a style that was extremely popular in the old world. The clues to its age lie in the fusion of platinum and yellow gold, and the generous use of old mine cut diamonds that is almost impossible to find in modern day fine jewellery.

The motif, while designed more than 120 years ago, and is unmistakably of that era, is timeless in that it looks right at home amongst the 21s Century designs.  The piece has been re-imagined as a bangle and a pendant necklace, with tiny brilliant cut diamonds and jade cabochons studding the delicate 18KT gold chain.

This piece is part of a digital gallery exhibition and is not currently available for purchase.
