The Choo Yilin New Classics Jade Bangle
In June 2019, our 10th year of creating iconic jade bangles, we unveiled the Choo Yilin Classics bangle — a minimalist oval-shaped beauty meant for everyday wear. It was a piece that was a long time coming; one that took us ages to get just right.
It was different from the iconic Choo Yilin jade bangles that came before it in a few key areas — oval rather than round, and very much thinner than anything we had formally launched before. The iconic Choo Yilin metal work, traditionally intricate and very visible from the outside, featured much more subtly on the Classics bangle, only visible on the inside.
This piece marked a milestone in Choo Yilin’s history. The magic of this bangle lies not in what visibly meets the eye, but in the hidden design technicalities.
This oval shape was a bold move away from the classic round one. It was thin enough that our clients could wear it every day without feeling its weight, but thick enough that it would hold its inherent structural stability. Our design and artisan team achieved this only through years of working with jade, and many attempts of trial and error.
This collection sold out completely before Choo Yilin went into hiatus at the end of 2019, and these Classic bangles have been one of the most requested pieces since. We could not accommodate any of these requests, until now.
We’re delighted to announce that for the first time in five years, we have bangles from our Classics collection available for sale. There are a few tweaks to this iteration that we think will make this Choo Yilin piece even more beloved than its earlier counterpart.
Design Inspiration
We kept to the original essence of the Classics bangle, where there was no visible metalwork from the outside. The inside of the bangle features a delicate 18KT gold strip, embellished with bead and rope work reminiscent of mid-Victorian times (1860-1880).
Product Details
This October 2024, there will be a limited number of The New Classics Jade Bangles, all cut from the same jade boulder. This boulder was truly spectacular — the bangles are luminous with high translucency. Just like its family, the Classic Studs and Necklaces, once this Meadow Mist jade vintage sells out, we will not be able to source for it again.
