The Cherry Blossom: Holding a Fleeting Moment
When we first introduced the Cherry Blossom collection in 2013, we thought we understood its central tension: one of nature’s most transient flowers, preserved in Type A jadeite and gemstones intended to endure.
What the Women Taught Us
We had understood the flower. The women who chose this bloom taught us to understand time. Over the years, women returned to the collection for weddings and private milestones that marked a life changing shape. Each piece became a way of honouring a moment while it was still present: a child suddenly old enough to leave home, or a version of oneself recognised fully only as she was beginning to disappear.
Holding What Cannot Last
That changed what the Cherry Blossom came to mean within the Choo Yilin archive. Its fleeting beauty remained, but the collection had also become a record of the moments women chose to honour. Life changes while we are living it. Certain moments become precious because they cannot be held for long, and some ask to be recognised before they pass.
The Cherry Blossom Returns
For The Flowers We Inherited, the Cherry Blossom returns as one of Choo Yilin’s earliest botanicals.
Across the collection, Sakura blooms in luminous 18KT gold against Type A jadeite and coloured gemstones in shades of blush, lavender and pale green. Petals appear at different stages of bloom, suspended briefly between arrival and disappearance.
At its heart is Type A jadeite, a material carried through generations of Asian families and often passed from mother to daughter. The pairing gives the collection its emotional tension: a transient flower held within a material made for inheritance.
Since 2013, the Cherry Blossom archive has grown through the women who chose these jewels and the moments they entrusted to them. Every earlier piece now carries a private season in another woman’s life.
